Learn how to make a Vegan Stromboli quickly and easily! A simple recipe that will make everyone fighting for the last slice!

A VOLCANO OF FLAVORS

Stromboli for many may be a volcano located on the north coast of Sicily in Italy, but for others it is a beautiful pizza dough roll stuffed with generous slices of charcuterie and mozzarella cheese.

Its origin is not very consensual, but it is said to have been there towards Philadelphia (USA), it is still known that it was created in the early 50’s. It is also said that its name is a direct reference to the film Stromboli, Terra di Dio by Roberto Rossellini.

Curiosities aside, Stromboli are often confused with Calzone pizzas, but the two have many differences! Calzone is a pizza folded in half, stuffed with the most varied ingredients and with lots of cheese and tomato sauce. Stromboli is a roll of dough stuffed with slices of typically Italian charcuterie and some slices of mozzarella cheese. This roll then goes into the oven until the inside is very hot, the cheese is melted and the bread is cooked to perfection.

I’m sure you’ve already crossed paths with Stromboli in your life, but no one called it by name. Here in Portugal it is quite common to see versions of Stromboli at party tables.

Today I bring you a 100% vegan version that will easily fool the most skeptical!

THIS RECIPE IS:

EASY | DELICIOUS | JUICY | TENDER | IRRESISTIBLE | TO SHARE

You know those perfect recipes to share with friends and family at a party table, picnic or a more special snack? Stromboli is the recipe!

Says who has tasted that the filling fools anyone and that no one would say that this is a plant based version! And can there be greater compliment than this?

The dough recipe I already shared with you in the recipe for Braided Pesto Bread. It is a very tender and tasty dough that works amazing in this type of recipe.

For the filling I used Bio Bandits Kethcup with Chili, a ketchup made with organic chili peppers and sweetened with agave that is a real wonder! In addition to the ketchup, I used the Mopur Cured Ham flavor slices, the Mopur Bio Black Pepper flavor slices and the Mopur Roasted Chicken flavor slices, all from Good&Green, as well as the Mozarrella Slices from Green Vie. All these products are incredible alternatives to traditional products made with ingredients of animal origin, bringing the flavor and textures that you expect and that leave everyone surrendered.

Juntei ainda ervas frescas, no caso cebolinho e tomilho, para trazer uma maior complexidade de sabores e frescura em cada dentada.

After the dough ready, open the dough, cover with ketchup, arrange slices of Mozzarella, Ham, Black Pepper, Roasted Chicken and Mozzarella respectively, sprinkle with chopped fresh herbs and roll until close completely. We then brush with a mixture of plant based milk with a pinch of saffron and a little olive oil. The stuffed dough roll goes into the oven until the dough is tender and cooked and the filling is very hot and with all the flavors harmoniously combined.

Simply delicious!! And the smell in the kitchen is indescribable!
